Choosing the Right Sized Bird Cage for your Parrot
Do you know what size bird cage you need for your Budgie, Cockatiel, Galah, Cockatoo, Conure etc? Buying the right size bird cage to suit your bird is a very important step and should be considered before buying your bird. As a rule, we at Impulse Parrots like to recommend that your bird’s cage needs to be at least 2-3 times the width of your birds wing span. This way the bird cage will be plenty large enough for your bird to flap its wings and get plenty of exercise as well as having room for all your bird’s toys.
If you plan on having more than one bird in your cage, we suggest that the cage be at least 150% larger than what would be required for one bird. So if you were getting a 45cm wide cage for your cockatiel, it would be best if it was at least 70cm wide for two cockatiels. This not only allows more room for play, but also gives the birds space when they want to have alone time away from their cage mate.
